Planning Hyrox for your athletes means combining running and strength stations in a single reusable block: you define the progression once, apply it to each athlete by adjusting thresholds and loads, and track adherence and feedback from the athlete profile. TrainingForever brings running and strength together in the same plan, with a video exercise library, multi-week blocks and a hybrid session for when you want running and stations on the same day.
TrainingForever is a Spanish platform for endurance and strength coaches: free up to 5 active athletes and then 0,99 € per active athlete per month, capped at 49 €/month. The coach leads, the AI helps.
If you already program strength for runners, link to our strength guide for endurance runners and to the CT, AC, FA and DC metrics. Here we focus on building a block designed for Hyrox (running + stations), without inventing race times or performance figures.
What is Hyrox for a coach?
Hyrox is a hybrid event that alternates running segments with strength and skill stations (for example wall balls, sled, lunges or rowing). For the coach, the challenge is not inventing a one-off WOD: it is periodising eight or more weeks in which running and stations progress together, without one day's fatigue knocking out the next.
In practice you need three pieces: an exercise library with video (so the athlete executes well at home or in the box), an editor that lets you mix running and strength, and a reusable block you can apply to several athletes by changing dates and loads.
How is an 8-week block for Hyrox structured?
An 8-week block for Hyrox is a mesocycle with a clear intent (base, build or peak) where each week combines running volume, strength stations and, on at least one day, a hybrid session that simulates the event format. The table below is a working template, not a medical plan or a promise of a mark.
| Weeks | Focus | Running | Stations / strength | Hybrid session |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1–2 | Technical base | Easy volume, technique | Learn the movements; moderate loads | Short, with long rests |
| 3–5 | Build | More density; some threshold | Progression of sets and density | More stations or less rest |
| 6–7 | Specific | Race paces | Stations under running fatigue | Partial rehearsal |
| 8 | Deload / taper | Reduce volume | Keep quality, less volume | Short and sharp |
Save this skeleton as a block in TrainingForever: each week sits on the calendar, and when you apply it to another athlete the dates and thresholds adapt. That way you don't rewrite the mesocycle for every new sign-up.

How do you prepare the station library?
The strength exercise library is the video catalogue you build each station from. TrainingForever includes 67 video exercises to start with, filterable by muscle group, equipment and pattern, and you can add your own with your own video.

If a station typical of your methodology is missing, you create it once:
- Open the strength exercise creation form.
- Add a name, pattern, equipment and clear cues.
- Upload the reference video.
- Save it: it will be available in all sessions and templates.

Where does the hybrid session fit in the block?
A hybrid session is a single session that alternates running blocks with strength stations, in the order and with the rests you define. It fits especially well in the build and specific weeks: it is the day the athlete practises switching stimulus without improvising in the box.

The other days can be running only or strength only. What matters is seeing the full week: running volume, station density and one hybrid day, with the load (CT, AC, FA, DC) visible in the athlete profile so you don't accumulate fatigue blindly.
How do you build the block in TrainingForever?
- Create or reuse the exercises from the library (stations + accessory strength).
- Build the session templates: running, strength and at least one hybrid.
- Assemble the typical week (seven columns) with the load split by discipline.
- Turn the week into an 8-week block with the progression you want.
- Apply it to each athlete by adjusting dates, thresholds and loads.
- Review feedback and RPE after each hybrid session and adjust the following week.
What mistakes should you avoid?
- Copying a one-off WOD every week with no progression: the athlete doesn't adapt and you don't scale the method.
- Putting the hybrid session the day after the long run without checking acute fatigue (FA) or the load differential (DC).
- Stations without video or cues: the movement degrades and feedback arrives late.
- Not saving templates: you end up rewriting the same thing for every athlete.
Frequently asked questions
Can I plan Hyrox in TrainingForever?
Yes. It combines running and strength in the same plan, uses the video exercise library, builds hybrid sessions (running + stations) and saves a multi-week block you reuse with each athlete.
What is a hybrid session?
A hybrid session is a single session that alternates running blocks with strength stations in the order and with the rests you define. It is used to rehearse the Hyrox format within the training week.
Do I need a different plan for each athlete?
No. You build the block once and apply it to other athletes by adjusting dates, thresholds and loads. The method is yours; individualisation lies in the thresholds and the feedback.
How many exercises does the library include?
TrainingForever includes 67 strength exercises on video to start with. You can filter by muscle group, equipment and pattern, and add your own with your own video.
Does the athlete pay to use the app?
No. The app, sessions, logging, messages and syncing are free for the athlete. Only the coach pays, and only for active athletes: free up to 5; then 0,99 € per athlete per month, with a maximum of 49 €.
Is Hyrox a TrainingForever brand?
No. Hyrox is a registered trademark of its owner. In this article we use it only descriptively to talk about how a coach plans running and strength stations together.
