Strength for triathletes is the strength and mobility block you fit into the season alongside swimming, cycling and running, without improvising day by day. It relies on reusable blocks, mobility/core sessions and reading load (CT, FA) on the athlete profile. It complements the triathlon season guide and the triathlon platform.
TrainingForever is a Spanish platform for endurance and strength coaches: free up to 5 active athletes; after that, 0,99 € per active athlete per month, maximum 49 €/month. The coach leads, the AI Assistant helps.
When should strength go into the season?
A common approach (adjust it to each athlete and to your method) is to prioritise learning the movement and general strength in the base phase, keep moderate densities in build and reduce volume in the taper, without letting it disappear completely. Mobility and core can be a session of their own in dense weeks across all three sports.
| Phase | Strength priority | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Base | High (technique + capacity) | More room for sets and learning |
| Build | Medium | Don't compete with key long sessions |
| Specific / peak | Low–medium | Maintain quality; less volume |
| Taper | Low | Mobility, activation, little residual fatigue |

How do you programme mobility and core?
You can create a dedicated mobility and core session in the strength editor, with exercises from the library or your own, and place it on the day that clashes least with swim, bike or run quality.

How do you reuse the block with another triathlete?
You save the strength mesocycle as a block and apply it to another athlete, adjusting dates and thresholds. The method is yours; individualisation belongs to each athlete profile.

What do you look at on the athlete profile?
On the athlete profile you track Total Load (CT) and Acute Fatigue (FA) — alongside AC and DC — to see whether the strength block is pushing fatigue right when a brick session or a long ride arrives. No invented figures: you decide with that athlete's data.

Frequently asked questions
Can I plan strength and the three disciplines on the same calendar?
Yes. TrainingForever lets you plan swimming, cycling, running and strength in the same plan, each with its own editor.
Should strength disappear during the taper?
Not necessarily. Many coaches keep short quality or mobility stimuli. The decision is yours, depending on the athlete and the race.
Which metrics do I use to avoid overloading?
CT, AC, FA and DC on the athlete profile, plus RPE and post-session comments. Avoid relying only on how it feels in the moment.
Do I have to create a plan from scratch for each triathlete?
No. You reuse blocks and templates and adjust thresholds and dates.
