Transparency: TrainingForever wrote this article, and we compete with Final Surge. That is why every figure links to the official page of the platform it comes from, with the date we checked it, and why we also spell out where Final Surge is the better fit. Final Surge is a trademark of Final Surge LLC.
Short answer: Final Surge is a long-established US platform with a strong foothold in running. The athlete account is free, and the coach pays one of two packages: 19 USD a month for up to 5 athletes, or 39 USD for up to 100. For the day-to-day work of coaching, TrainingForever currently goes further. You plan running, trail, cycling, swimming, triathlon and strength in the same plan. An AI Assistant builds sessions and drafts messages with each athlete’s context. You also get automations, tasks, a calendar with bookings, clubs with several coaches, payment management through Stripe, and workouts sent to the watch (Garmin, Polar, Suunto, Apple Watch, Coros and others). It is free for up to 5 athletes and never goes above €49 a month. If you coach a large group on running plans alone and you want to sell plans in a store that already has an audience, Final Surge works out cheaper from about 40 athletes.

Here we put TrainingForever next to Final Surge: what each platform offers, what it costs at your athlete count, and when we would tell you to stay where you are.
How do TrainingForever and Final Surge differ?
Final Surge presents itself as a training log for athletes and coaches, “for athletes, coaches, teams and clubs”, with a deep presence in US running: high-school and college teams, clubs and specialty shops (source, source). The model is simple. The athlete uses the platform for free and the coach pays a fixed package. TrainingForever is built around the coach’s day: plan every discipline in one plan, talk to each athlete, automate the work that repeats, and manage payments, with an AI Assistant that knows each athlete.

How much does each one cost?
On Final Surge the coach pays a fixed package: 19 USD a month for 1 to 5 athletes, with a 14-day trial, and 39 USD a month for up to 100 athletes. Annual billing saves 17%, and above 100 athletes the price is on request (source). TrainingForever is free for up to 5 active athletes. From the sixth you pay €0.99 for each active athlete that month, capped at €49, and the athlete never pays. The table compares the coach’s monthly fee in the currency each platform publishes.
| Athletes | Final Surge (USD) | TrainingForever (EUR) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 athlete | 19 USD (Starter) | €0 |
| 5 athletes | 19 USD (Starter) | €0 |
| 20 athletes | 39 USD (Pro) | €19.80 |
| 50 athletes | 39 USD (Pro) | €49 (cap) |
| 100 athletes | 39 USD (Pro) | €49 (cap) |
Sources: Final Surge pricing and TrainingForever pricing. With few athletes, TrainingForever is cheaper (free up to 5). With a large group, Final Surge Pro can come out a little cheaper, depending on the exchange rate and on whether you pay annually. On TrainingForever, Gems are optional extras, billed monthly with no lock-in: AI Assistant €4.99, Video €2.99, Business €3.99, Automations €2.99, Advanced analysis €3.99, Storage from €1.99, or the full pack for €12.99 a month.
Where does TrainingForever go further?
TrainingForever is a Spanish platform for endurance and strength coaches and clubs. Planning, communication, analysis and the business side sit in one place.
- Strength in the same plan: blocks, supersets, circuits, %1RM, RPE/RIR, tempo and rest, with a video exercise library and your own exercises, alongside running, trail, cycling, swimming and triathlon (source).
- AI Assistant with context: it knows the profile, the load, the calendar and your library. It builds sessions from a text, summarises the group’s load, flags who to look at first and drafts messages. It proposes; you decide. With the API and MCP you can work from ChatGPT or Claude.
- Automations and tasks: “when this happens, do this” rules for onboarding, reminders and alerts, and a task manager that fills itself with unchecked feedback, overdue payments or goals that are close.
- Who needs attention today: a list of missed sessions, niggles and overdue payments, plus each athlete’s adherence, planned versus completed (source).
- A calendar with bookings: meetings, video calls and your own training on the same calendar, synced with Google Calendar. The athlete books from the phone in the slots you open.
- Clubs with several coaches: up to 6 per club, each with their own athletes, a noticeboard and a single invoice.
- A price in euros, and free to start: up to 5 athletes with nothing to pay and no card, and never more than €49 a month.
- Workouts on the watch: send workouts to Garmin, Polar, Suunto, Apple Watch, Coros and others. If you change a target pace from the phone, the watch has it before the session starts.
Where is Final Surge stronger?
Worth saying plainly, because it can decide the choice:
- Price for large squads: 39 USD a month for up to 100 athletes, with 17% off if you pay annually (source).
- A plan store: you can sell your plans in their marketplace and publish your services on your coach page (source, source).
- Intake paperwork: intake questionnaires you can export to CSV, and liability waivers with a digital signature (source).
- In-person teams: private social walls for teams and clubs, and attendance with GPS check-in for group sessions (source).
- Health and injury: the pain and injury report (PAIR), plus HRV and daily readiness with Athlete Premium (source, source).
- More connected apps: on top of the watches, TrainerRoad, Zwift, ROUVY, Wahoo SYSTM, HRV4Training, Elite HRV and Zepp (Amazfit), among others (source).
